On Tuesday 28 May NSW Ambulance hosted a National Reconciliation Week ceremony with performances from Walangari Karntawarra and Diramu Aboriginal Dance to foster understanding of our shared histories and cultures and explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation.

Our “Sea of Hands” display at the State Operations Centre encouraged staff to reflect on their understanding of reconciliation and actions for the future.

The theme this year, “now more than ever”, is a reminder to us all that the fight for justice and the continuing rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will, and must, continue.

As a further commitment to Reconciliation, NSW Ambulance has launched the Aboriginal Health Action Plan, which is our roadmap to ensure our systems and practices are equitable and culturally safe, as we take foundational actions to work towards closing the gap for Aboriginal people.
